Calumet Woman Faces Drug Charges

A Calumet woman has been arrested on drug charges.

Detectives from the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team raided an apartment at 118 5th Street in Calumet Friday.

Officials say the search warrant was obtained after a 13-month investigation, during which undercover officers purchased Suboxone and methamphetamine from the 57-year-old woman.

On Thursday, they received word that a drug shipment was expected to be delivered to the apartment. That package was seized during the raid, and officers say it contained a half-ounce of meth.

Additional meth and packaging supplies were also collected from the apartment.

The suspect is being held at the Houghton County Jail on two charges of delivery of Suboxone, and two charges of delivery of meth. Additional charges could be brought after the Houghton County prosecutor reviews the case.

Her identity will be released after her arraignment in 97th District Court.
