Chassell’s annual Old-Fashioned Christmas Celebration gets underway today.

Over the next two days, the winners of the Chassell Township Decorating and Lighting Contest will be announced on the event’s Facebook page. Kids from the elementary school will decorate the community tree.

On Friday, the elementary school Christmas program will begin at 1:00. The Beth Zadorecky Tree Lighting Ceremony will begin at 5:00, with Santa, carolers, wagon rides and refreshments until 8:00.

On Saturday, the Chassell Senior Class will serve breakfast and lunch at the school from 9:00 until 2:30. The Christmas market will be open at the school from 10:00 until 3:00, along with the Women’s Club pie and coffee sale. Children can enjoy story time and games at the VFW Hall from 1100 until 1:00. Kids can make cookies with Santa and Mrs. Claus from 11:00 until 2:00 at the Chassell Heritage Center.

The annual “Home for the Holidays” home tour and gourmet tasting will run from noon until 5:00 Saturday. Six homes will be included, and each will offer a door prize. $10.00 tickets are available now at the Chassell General Store, the Chassell Heritage Museum, Superior Family Chiropractic, and the Calumet Visitors Center.
