Christmas Arrives In Calumet

The 1st day of December marks the beginning of Christmas in Calumet.

Festivities begin this evening at 7pm in the park next to the Calumet Theatre with the Christmas Tree Lighting and Christmas Caroling with Bob Norden and the Copper Country Band.

Businesses and art galleries will also be open late as it is the First Friday of the month.

Santa Claus will visit with kids tomorrow from 11am-3pm at the 5th & Elm Coffee House. On Sunday, Santa will visit the new location of Keweenaw Coffee Works.

There will be free horse-drawn wagon rides circling through downtown and Bob Norden and his wandering musicians will fill the streets with live music.

Main Street Calumet Director Leah Polzien says people are invited to come and enjoy the town’s Christmas spirit.

Polzein said, “Everybody is ready to go, windows are decorated and the stores are very merry in town so it’s a great time to come out and get a little shopping done and stop and have lunch and take a wagon ride, get the kids to Santa.”

Events will continue through the month, culminating with the Red Jacket Jamboree Holiday Show at the Calumet Theatre on December 22nd.
