Copper Dog 150 Volunteer Training Session

Volunteers are still needed for next weekend’s Copper Dog 150.

There is a volunteer training class at Calumet High School tomorrow, from 11a-1p.

The first hour will be inside, with the second hour being hands on with dogs, provided by Tom Bauer.

The race begins next Friday, February 28th, continues over Leap Day and wraps up Sunday, March 1st.

To add to the experience, the Calumet Theater has two showings of “The Great Alkaskan Race” which told the story of the mushers and dogs who raced from Anchorage Alaska, to Nome, to bring the serum needed to stop a Diptheria outbreak.

The route they traveled, became the inspiration for the world famous Iditarod Sled Dog Race.

The first showing is Thursday, the 27th at 7:30pm.

The second showing is Saturday, the 29th aka Leap Day, at 5:30pm.
