Copper Shores Community Picnic Moves to L’Anse Waterfront This Year

Last year’s community wide picnic was so much fun, Copper Shores Community Health Foundation plans to return with the event. But this year, the picnic will move to L’Anse at the waterfront park. The community picnic brings together families and the community for a day of fun and relaxation. While also allowing individuals to check out local resources related to health, recreation, mental health and victim services, and much more.

Last year we did it in Chassell, and it was great, it just blew away our expectations. We had hundreds of people show up. The atmosphere was great, it was high energy. People just had a lot of fun. Our board members came out, our staff came out, we broke bread with people we may not have seen in a while. And it was really just a nice afternoon. So we are really looking forward to year two. And making it bigger and better and seeing more of our community.” – Michael Babcock, Director of Communication, Copper Shores Community Health Foundation

Copper Shores Community Health Foundation Director of Communication, Michael Babcock, says that while the day is meant to bring the area together for some fun. The larger goal is to help their partner organizations an opportunity to share their own stories, and connect with the community in a relaxed space.

“Police from L’Anse, the Baraga County Sheriff, Superior Search and Rescue will al be there. And there will also be a bunch of farmers for a little pop up farmers market. Each one of them has different things to offer the community, in terms of what they can connect with, what people already know about them. But the bottom line is a lot of these groups and organizations do not have the visibility that they need to have.to have the success they need to have in communities. So this is a chance for them to get out in front of a new group of people. And we do incentivize the people that’ll go there, to go talk to them as well. For every table you visit with you’ll get a ticket. And you’ll put your name and phone number down and we’re going to be drawing raffle prizes at the end of the event. And we have some really, really great raffle prizes.” – Michael Babcock, Director of Communication, Copper Shores Community Health Foundation

The picnic will include plenty of food and refreshments, as well as prize drawings. During the event there will also be live music and fun games for kids and families. The Copper Shores Community Picnic is on Sunday from 12 noon to 3 pm at the L’Anse waterfront park.
