COVID-19 Claims This Years Parade Of Nations

COVID-19 has claimed another victim, in this year’s Parade of Nations, but diversity will still be celebrated.

This from an email from Jennifer Donovan, of Michigan Tech.

The parade and multicultural festival have been cancelled, but sponsors are hard at work, to celebrate the Keweenaw’s rich international heritage in a safe and healthy way.

Hancock resident Linnea Oja, won the logo competition this year, and the theme is “One World, Our World.”

Early in September, flags of the nations represented at Michigan Tech and Finlandia and all over the Keweenaw, will be hung from streetlight poles in Houghton and Hancock.

A scavenger hunt will also take place, where participants follow a trail of clues through the community, guessing which country a clue is from.

The Top three teams will receive $300, $200 and $100 respectively.
