Copper Country COVID Climb Continues

COVID-19 numbers in the Copper Country keep climbing.

The Western U.P. Health Department reported 93 more positive cases and three more deaths across its five-county service area in the past week. 76 of those positives, and two deaths, were in Houghton County.

The third death was in Baraga County, which reported five more positives. Keweenaw County added three more positives, Ontonagon County had one, and Gogebic County added eight.

One of every 13 tests administered in Houghton County came back positive.

Since the pandemic began, 744 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in the five-county area, with 504 of those in Houghton County alone. 307 recoveries have been confirmed. Seven of our neighbors have died.
