The deadline for submissions for the Create the Logo contest is Friday, February 16th.
Houghton/Keweenaw Communities That Care is seeking a new logo created by youth in the community.
Dollar Bay student Hayley Beaudoin says their organization’s main purpose is prevention. “The 8th, 10th and 12th graders took a survey and it showed two key risk factors that the youth in our area face and those risk factors were low perceived risk of alcohol and drug use and having depressive symptoms, so we’re just here to help and teach the kids that there is a risk when you go to drink or do anything like that,” said Beaudoin.
Students in grades 6 through 12 are eligible to submit an 8×8 or digital design by either dropping it off at Dial Help in Houghton or by emailing it to Houghton/KeweenawCTC@gmail.com, (include name, phone number and school).
The winner will get a $50 pre-paid Visa card and the chance to work with Finlandia University’s Graphic Arts Department to finalize the design for use.
Houghton/Keweenaw Communities That Care will assume permanent ownership for exclusive use of the winning design.
