Downstate Man Killed In Snowmobile Accident

A downstate man is dead after a snowmobile accident in Houghton County.

The sheriff’s office responded to the accident shortly after 3:30am Friday on Trail #3, north of Trail #121 in Adams Township.

A snowmobile driven by a 57-year-old Rochester Hills, MI man was traveling southbound on Trail #3 when it went off the trail and struck a tree.

The driver was pronounced dead on the scene.

Speed and alcohol are factors in the accident, which remains under investigation.
