Effort to Send U.P. Gifts to Local Service Persons Underway

The Auxiliary of Alfred Erickson American Legion Post 186 of Hancock is again coordinating an effort to send bits of home to active-duty Copper Country servicemen and women this Christmas.

Operation Copper Country Active Duty 2022 will provide gifts for natives of Houghton, Keweenaw, Baraga and Ontonagon counties.

Containers for monetary donations have been placed at various businesses in the Copper Country. Copper Country gift items are also accepted, such as apparel, U.P.-made nonperishable snacks, and U.P.-based games and reading materials. Gift items may be dropped off at Peterson Chiropractic in Hancock.

If you know of an active-duty serviceperson who should be in the list, contact Deb Guilbault at 906-281-1952 or email: auxiliarypost186@gmail.com

Names and donations may also be mailed to: Auxiliary – American Legion Post 186, 1308 W. Quincy Street, Hancock, MI 49930.
