Finn Zone Seeks To Attract Finnish Companies

Forget Silicon Valley–a new partnership between local business organizations and Michigan Tech is helping Finnish based companies to skip the usual method of breaking into the American market.

Finn Zone is a partnership consisting of the MTEC SmartZone, Finlandia University, Keweenaw Economic Development Alliance and the Finnish-American Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with Michigan Tech.

They are working together to help companies from Finland explore opportunities here in the Copper Country, where there is a significant presence of Finnish culture.

Finn Zone representatives Kevin Manninen and Patrick Visser gave a presentation to the Hancock City Council at their regular meeting Wednesday.

Plans are in the works to host cellulose biomass summit in June, inviting Finnish companies to take part in a major event in the local area.
