Fire In Downtown Houghton

A fire broke out in downtown Houghton Friday evening sometime around 9:oopm.

Fire crews responded to the area around LB’s Chill & Grill on Shelden Avenue.

As you can see by this video taken by a witness to the fire, flames could be seen coming from the rear of the building next to the restaurant.

Smoke from the blaze could be seen clear across the Portage Canal.

Crews are still currently on scene.

Houghton Police Chief John Donnelly said he wasn’t aware of anyone seeking medical attention.

No one is believed to be in the building at this time but authorities are still trying to account for all the tenants.
