Four County Roads Remain Closed Due To Flood

The number of county roads still closed to traffic after the Father’s Day Flood is down to four.

The Houghton County Road Commission says they are Paradise Road at Pilgrim River, Lower Forsman Road at M-26, Old Mill Hill Road and Houghton Canal Road at Oscar Bay.

Paradise Road, Old Mill Hill Road and Lower Forsman Road will remain closed until next summer.

Houghton Canal Road at Oscar Bay is on schedule to be open to traffic the second week of December.

Although several roads are now open to traffic, motorists are asked to proceed with caution through the construction sites as final paving repairs could not be done due to the weather and will not be completed until the spring.

Efforts are underway to work with Legislators to secure funding to help pay the $4.5 million matching funds required to complete all the repairs from the flood.

The Houghton County Road Commission would like to thank everyone for their patience as they continue to recover/repair the road network.
