Governor Whiter Extends “Stay Home Stay Safe” Through May 15th

As expected, Governor Whitmer has extended the “Stay Home Stay Safe” Executive order, through May 15th.

In a press conference this morning, she explained why.

Michigan’s Senate, is prepared to vote on repealing 1945’s Emergency Powers of Governor Act, which Whitmer has used as justification for acting unilaterally.

Should the senate vote to repeal, a House vote could come as early as next week.

Governor Whitmer has also allowed retailers to reopen paint and garden sections, provided they take necessary precautions to slow the spread of the virus.

To date, Michigan has 35, 291 confirmed cases, with 2,977 deaths.

The Western Upper peninsula has 6 confirmed cases, with 1 death.
