Governor Whitmer Extends Price Gouging Executive Order

Governor Whitmer has also extended her executive order, enhancing price gouging restrictions, during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The order extends restrictions on price gouging for goods, materials, emergency supplies and food.

Under the current order, people or businesses are not allowed to charge 20% more than they sold the same product before March 9th, when the first State of Emergency Order went into effect.

Merchants can charge more than 20% if there is an increase in getting the product to market, or if there was an extraordinary discount before March 9th.

The current order remains in effect until June 12th.
