Governor Whitmer Updates State On COVID-19 Battle

Governor Whitmer held a press conference earlier this morning, updating the state on her latest efforts, during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The highlights included President Trump approving her request for a disaster declaration,  the state’s new volunteer website, to help battle COVID-19 and increased unemployment benefits.

The state has also received over 112,000 masks, from the Strategic National Stockpile.

Governor Whitmer also went over how she spent her weekend.

She also updated the number of cases in Michigan, which is just under 5,500, with 132 deaths.

Michigan is also ranked 5th in the US for confirmed cases.

The Copper Country now has their first confirmed case of COVID-19 in Houghton County, as do Chippewa and Marquette Counties.

Gogebic County saw the U.P.’s first death from the virus, last week.
