Halloween Events Abound This Weekend

Halloween events dominate the calendar in the Copper Country this weekend. 

There are a number of Haunted Houses:
• The Howl-O-Scream Haunted House at Meadowbrook Arena in L’Anse will be open tonight and tomorrow, with a family-friendly tour from 7 until 8, with a full-on screamfest version from 8 until 11.
• The CLK Schools Drama Club Haunted House at the George Gipp Arena in Laurium will be open today from 5-9, and tomorrow from 1-3 and 5-9.
• Theater and sound students from Michigan Tech will offer tours of the Haunted Quincy Mine tonight and tomorrow between 6 and 10. 
 • Sigma Pi and Theta Chi Epsilon will hold their 35th annual haunted house charity event at 1206 College Avenue tonight and tomorrow. “PG” hours are from 7 until 9, and “rated R” hours are from 9 to midnight.
• MTU Safe House trick or treating will be held at the Michigan Tech Douglass Houghton, Wadsworth and McNair residence halls tomorrow between 1 and 4. Please park in lots 14 and 9.
• The Spooky House of Physics will take place at the Lake Linden High School gym, with a scary version tomorrow evening from 6 until 11, and a family-friendly version from Sunday from 11 to 2. It’s presented by the Lake Linden High School physics club. 

Saints Peter and Paul Lutheran Church will hold its 75th Annual Fall Bazaar plus a Trunk or Treat event at the church tomorrow between noon and 3.

Calumet and Laurium are planning a full day of Halloween activities tomorrow:
• 11:00 to 4:00 – Pumpkin carving at Ramona’s Bakery. Bring your own pumpkin, or use one of those provided there. Pumpkins will be displayed in the pocket park next to Bucko’s Party Store.
 • 1:00 to 3:00 – The Laurium Fire Department will host a Touch-A-Truck event. 
 • 3:00 to 5:00 – Trunk or Treat on 5th Street in downtown Calumet. Those who would like to decorate cars and hand out treats are encouraged to register in advance at the Main Street Calumet website.
 • 4:00 to 6:00 – Carnival Games and The Haunted Mansion at the Calumet Theatre. Play games for prizes on the stage, and then stay to watch the movie The Haunted Mansion with Eddie Murphy. Carnival tickets are $1.00, and movie admission is $1.00 person.
