Hancock Resident Complains Of Vollwerth’s Smoke

Vollwerth’s is one of Hancock’s signature businesses with their popular hot dogs, brats and sausages.

One Hancock resident says the process of making those products is making him sick.

Local business owner Mark Mountz addressed the Hancock City Council at their regular meeting Wednesday to complain about the air quality around the Vollwerth’s location.

Mountz said smoke from the building makes it impossible for him to work outside and affects his health.

He suggested the council find funds to help Vollwerth’s fix what he sees as an issue.

Vollwerth President Adam Manderfield responded by saying the smoke stacks his company uses have been there for 80 years and that their process has not changed during that time.

The council took no immediate action to settle the dispute.
