More recycling bins are on their way.
The city of Houghton had received a grant to purchase the bins and then offered them to residents for $10 each, far below the actual cost of the bins.
The $10 charge was to help offset part of the matching funds provided by the city.
City Manager Eric Waara said the Department of Environmental Quality has recommended the city reinvest the money raised from those sales iand purchase additional bins.
The city will order another 100 recycling bins with the money.
About 500 bins have already been distributed to city residents.
