Houghton Donates $10,000 To Dial Help

Dial Help does a great deal for the community, not only with their crisis center hotline, but with the victim’s support services that they offer.

The City of Houghton knows this–and to help support them, the City Council voted to donate $10,000 to Dial Help at their regular meeting Wednesday.

The city will also look at including a donation as part of their annual budget.

Houghton Police Chief John Donnelly spoke in support of Dial Help, who gave a presentation on the value of their organization and the needs they have.

Donnelly said Dial Help is always ready to assist them.

Dial Help is partially grant funded, but must raise money to pay for the financial gap that remains.

Their fundraising efforts this year have only covered about 16% of that gap.

Dial Help plans to continue to make presentations throughout the four-county area they serve.
