Houghton High School Drama Club Presents “Edelweiss”

The Houghton High School Drama Club will perform the play Edelweiss this weekend.

The story takes place in Nazi Germany during World War II as students at a school in Munich wrestle with what’s going on around them.

Actress Isabelle De Ycaza says the drama team is pouring their heart and soul into their performances.

De Ycaza said, “This is a very emotional play and so the audience is going to probably leave pretty drained, to be honest. It’s hard subject matter. It’s serious stuff. It’s not exactly what you would expect from a high school play.”

Director Dave Crowley says the subject matter was as important for the students to learn as it is for the audience to hear.

“I just thought the story was something that I wanted people to see and find out about,” said Crowley.

Edelweiss will be performed tonight and tomorrow at 7pm at the Houghton High School.
