Hundreds Turn Out For March In Houghton To Support Women’s Rights

Hundreds of people marched across the Portage Lake Lift Bridge Saturday in support of women’s rights.

The Sisters March was held in conjunction with the Women’s March on Washington D.C. on the same day, one day after President Donald Trump’s inauguration.

Millions took part in similar marches across the nation.

Local crowd estimates vary from about 250 to twice that amount, many carrying signs expressing solidarity with one another and opposition to the new Trump administration.

In response to the protests, President Trump tweeted that we just had an election, asking why these people didn’t vote.

Trump lost the nation’s popular vote by roughly three million.
