Steps are being taken to put together a high angle rescue team for when crews must respond to an accident at the falls.

Emergency Measures Director Chris Van Arsdale said the team would help at places like Hungarian Falls, as well as other locations such as Silver Mountain or parts of Keweenaw County where climbing accidents happen.

Van Arsdale said the county is looking at other areas of the UP that have similar response teams to see what training they would need, who would be involved, and where to locate them.

The cost of such a team would also have to be determined.

Van Arsdale said there have been two incidents at Hungarian Falls in the last couple of months, neither were life threatening but the victims were injured and could have been much worse.
