Investigation Continues into Ontonagon Truck-Pedestrian Crash

An investigation continues into a truck-pedestrian crash that took place in Ontonagon late last month.

Details were just released by the Michigan State Police about the incident on the morning of June 24. No names were included.

Investigators say a 69-year-old woman from Waukesha, Wisconsin, was in a crosswalk on South Seventh Street when the truck driven by a 75-year-old Ontonagon man turned onto the street from Greenland Road and struck her.

The woman suffered serious injuries. After initial treatment at Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital, she was airlifted to Aspirus Wausau. She is now undergoing rehabilitation in a facility in the Milwaukee area.

Investigators are awaiting a final report from the MSP Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit, before turning their findings over to the Ontonagon County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
