Isle Royale National Park Accepting Commercial Use Authorization Applications

Isle Royale National Park is now accepting Commercial Use Authorization applications for the upcoming summer.

Permits are required for:
• Charter boating – fishing,
• Charter boating – motorized – sightseeing or transportation,
• Charter sailing,
• Charter diving,
• Guided kayaking,
• Guided backpacking,
• Guided photography workshops.

The number of charter fishing CUAs will be limited, and based on an applicant’s qualifications, operating history, and ability to provide visitor safety while protecting park resources.

The park will begin switching from one-year to two-year CUAs this year. Land-based CUAs will be issued for two years beginning this summer. Water-based CUAs will be issued for one year this summer, with two-year licenses granted beginning next summer.

This year’s fees are:
• $500 for a one-year charter fishing CUA,
• $300 for a one-year water-based tour CUA,
• $600 for a two-year land-based CUA.

Once completed, email the application packet to ISRO_CUA_SUP@nps.gov and arrange for payment of the required Application Fee.
