Isle Royale Park Delays Opening

Under the advice of the state, and the Western Upper Peninsula Health Department, Isle Royale National Park in Houghton, has announced a delay in the park’s opening.

The park was originally scheduled to open April 16th, but the opening has now been rescheduled for June 15th.

Isle Royale and surrounding islands, along with all visitor centers, campgrounds and docks will remain closed to all visitors, during this time, however, Lake Superior waters remain open.

If you paid for Ranger III Ferry Service, during the affected dates, you’ll receive a full refund, when employees return to Isle Royale’s Houghton Headquarters, when the “Stay Home Stay Safe” Executive Order is lifted.

The Houghton Visitor Center, will open on May 18th, although a later opening date is possible, depending on the COVID-19 pandemic.
