KBIC’s Gaming Distributions To Local And State Governments

The Keweenaw Bay Indian Community has released their recent gaming distributions to local units of government and the State of Michigan.

The KBIC has been making bi-annual payments from gaming proceeds of their casinos since 1993.

These payments are two percent and eight percent respectively and are derived from the net win from all Class III electronic games of chance–commonly known as slot machines.

The two percent payments are made each May and November.

The latest distribution to Baraga County derived from the Ojibwa Casino Resort—Baraga was over $134,000.

Marquette County received more than $172,000 derived from the Ojibwa Casino—Marquette.

The eight percent payments are made to the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.

The November distribution total from both casinos topped $1.2 million.

The next cycle of awards will be made in May 2017.
