Keweenaw Sheriff’s Department Gets New Truck

The Keweenaw County Sheriff’s Office has a brand new 2020 Chevrolet 2500 pickup, thanks to the Operation Stonegarden grant program, through the Department of Homeland Security.

Keweenaw County Sheriff Curt Pennala.

To be considered, entities must be state, local or tribal law enforcement agencies that are located along the U.S. Border.

The grant also allows for funding, which allowed the county to increase patrols and acquire new equipment, at no cost to the taxpayer.

When asked who was responsible for making sure the new truck had the correct paint, emblems and equipment and such, Pennala had this to say.
