Lake Trout Festival Seeks Volunteer Organizers

Organizers of the Baraga County Lake Trout Festival are issuing a call for volunteers to help plan and carry out this year’s event.

Several veteran members of the organizing committee have retired, and several others have been pulled away from the festival this year by family commitments.

The festival is held in conjunction with the Keweenaw Bay Classic Fishing Tournament along the L’Anse waterfront. It typically includes a craft fair, activities for kids, entertainment, food and fundraising activities on behalf of local nonprofits.

This year’s festival is scheduled for June 10th.

The first organizing committee meeting is scheduled for tomorrow at 5:00 at the Baraga County Visitors Center, on US-41 in L’Anse.

Anyone interested in helping out is encouraged to attend. If you’d like to assist, but can’t make the meeting, contact Barb McEwen at the Visitors Center at 524-7444.
