A caregiver has been arrested in connection with the death of a toddler.
After a lengthy investigation, the Michigan State Police arrested a 37-year-old L’Anse woman Wednesday on a Homicide-Felony Murder warrant authorized by the Baraga County Prosecuting Attorney.
The warrant authorization and arrest occurred on the one-year anniversary of the death of 2-year-old Walker Meyers of L’Anse.
Authorities say Meyers was unresponsive when brought to the emergency room at the Baraga County Memorial Hospital by his caregiver on December 23, 2017.
He was immediately flown by Med-Flight to the Milwaukee Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he died of his inflicted injuries.
Medical experts determined his manner of death was homicide.
The woman’s name is not being released until after her arraignment, which is scheduled for Friday in the 97th District Court of Baraga County.
