Laurium Man Jailed Following Golf Cart Joyride

A Laurium man has been arrested for stealing a golf cart.

Hancock police were called to the city campground yesterday, after the cart went missing.

Local law enforcement agencies were notified, and it wasn’t long before the Houghton County Sheriff’s office received a tip that the cart had been observed being driven along M-26 in Tamarack City.

Deputies eventually located the cart on Trail 1 near US-41 in Calumet Township.

The suspect was arrested at the scene. He was taken to the Houghton County jail, and has been charged with Operating while Intoxicated, and Possession of Stolen Property.

Michigan State Police and Superior Service Towing assisted at the scene.
