Shoppers will have a chance to save some money and boost the local economy on Saturday.
The Small Business Saturday promotion is designed to counter the trend to spend Christmas cash at big box retailers on Black Friday, and online on Cyber Monday.
Tara Arens from the Keweenaw Peninsula Chamber of Commerce says shoppers can start their Small Business Saturday adventure at their office in Houghton between 8:00 and noon… [ARENS].
The booklet will include ads and discounts from dozens of Houghton and Keweenaw County businesses. You can pick it up early, if you want, beginning tomorrow at noon at the Chamber office. It will also be available to print off from the Chamber website and Facebook page.

The Baraga Chamber will also be offering coffee and doughnuts Saturday between 9:00 and noon at their office in downtown L’Anse.
The Small Business Saturday campaign is promoted nationally by American Express, which notes that, out of every dollar spent at a small business in the United States, approximately 67 cents stays in the local community.
