Logging Truck Loses Load On US-41

A logging truck lost its load yesterday afternoon in Portage Township–fortunately no one was injured.  The accident happened around 2:15pm on US-41 near Broemer Road.

The Michigan State Police Calumet Post says the logging truck and a pickup truck were both traveling south on US-41 when the logging truck tried to pass the pickup truck.

The driver of the pickup truck turned on his left turn signal to turn east onto a private drive and the logging truck driver tried to avoid the crash by crossing over the northbound shoulder of the road.  That’s when the logging truck lost its load when the trailer overturned.

Police say no injuries were reported and the driver of the logging truck was cited for spilling its load on the roadway.
