Main Street Calumet Seeks Facade Improvement Projects

On April 26, 2018 the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) released information that they intend to support a Facade Restoration Initiative (FRI) to support facade restoration/improvement programs in downtowns around the state. MEDC expects three communities will be chosen to administer grant funds thru their local program (DDAs, Main Street Programs or Principle Shopping Districts).

MEDC is offering a minimum of $50,000 and no more than $500,000 to support potential projects in each of the award communities. MEDC is offering up to a 50% match of facade restoration costs. The other 50% of cost would be shared by property owners and local match.

MEDC has asked communities to submit a Request of Information (RFI), like an application, if they would like to be considered for this funding. Main Street Calumet and KEDA have already begun working on the RFI and the only portion left to complete is our list of potential projects.

If you have projects on the exterior of your building that you would like to complete within the next two years (but likely not summer 2018) please get in touch!! We must have at least $50,000 worth of eligible projects to compete for this funding.
