Man Held After Shooting at Marenisco Home

A 31-year-old man has been arrested after authorities say he shot a gun toward a residence in Marenisco.

State Police troopers and Gogebic County Sheriff’s deputies were called out around 11:00 yesterday morning on a domestic disturbance complaint. While en route, they were told that the suspect was firing a gun at or near the residence.

The suspect had left the home by the time officers arrived, but investigators say he returned while they were there, and fired a shot toward a nearby residence. He then fled in a vehicle. Watersmeet Township and Michigan DNR officers joined the chase as the suspect headed for the state line. Vilas County deputies and Wisconsin State Patrol officers took over there, and were able to deploy stop sticks to deflate the tires on the suspect’s vehicle.

The suspect is being held in the Vilas County jail on charges of fleeing and eluding. He could be extradited back to Michigan to face additional counts.
