Marquette Apartment Building Evacuated Because Of Fire

A fire at an apartment complex in Marquette has several residents displaced.

The fire was first reported around 12:30 Tuesday afternoon at the Pine Ridge Apartments, a nine story apartment building with 140 income-based apartments in the downtown area.

Residents were evacuated by emergency crews and the Marquette City Fire Department put out a notice asking people to avoid the area so that fire fighting efforts could continue.

Marq-Tran buses were used to transport the residents to the Superior Dome, where a temporary shelter was put into place for them to stay while officials determine if the apartment complex is safe to return to.

The Salvation Army assisted on the scene by providing food for the residents at the shelter as they wait to hear about the condition of the building.

The fire has been put out and no injuries have been reported.
