MDOT To Lift Traffic Restrictions For Labor Day Weekend

Starting tomorrow at 3pm and going through 6am on Tuesday, MDOT will ease traffic restrictions for 144 of 200 state road projects for the Labor Day Weekend.

Although road work will be suspended, drivers are advised construction equipment and certain traffic configurations such as temporary shifts and shoulder closures, may remain in place.

Paul C. Ajegba, State Transportation Director said he expects Michiganders to take to the roads, for one last weekend of Summer travel.

There are some road work areas that still have lane restrictions in place during the holiday weekend.

Those in the Upper Peninsula include US 41 in Hancock from Quincy Street to Lake Annie Road, M 28 in Ontonagon County over the Baltimore River, west of Bruce Crossing, US 2 in Gogebic County, over the Big Presque Isle River and M 35 in Marquette County, which is closed from north of Marquette County Road 480 to south of Marquette County Road 492.

A detour is posted.
