Michigan Emergency Declaration Extended Through April 30th

Michigan’s Legislature came back to Lansing, some wearing masks and gloves, had their temperatures taken, and voted to extend the state’s emergency declaration through April 30th.

Lt. Governor Garlin Gilchrist, wore a t- shirt saying “Everybody vs COVID-19” as he presided over the session.

Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey sang the hymn “It is Well in my Soul.”

The session didn’t last long, 13 minutes from beginning to end.

The extension through April 30th, was far less then the 70 day extension Governor Whitmer asked for recently, but they can come back to vote on further extensions, as often as they feel is necessary.

Michigan’s “Stay Home Stay Safe” Order is set to expire on Monday, but Governor Whitmer has stated she expects to extend that sometime this week.
