Michigan Tech DSL Receives $1 Million Endowment

The Dynamics Systems Library (DSL) in the Mechanical Engineering department received the endowment from MTS Systems Corporation.

According to a press release from the university, MTS was considering splitting up the donation between several schools.

They decided against it because the company wanted their relationship with MTU to grow.

Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering-Engineering Mechanics Chuck Van Karsen said “We’ve worked with that company on and off, using their equipment and their support for our programs. I personally have worked with the company for almost 40 years I guess in my career. Long-time relationship with them.”

The money will go towards tuition assistance and stipends for graduate students studying dynamic systems, noise and vibration along with travel expenses to academic conferences and networking.
