Michigan Tech Enters Step Two Of Return To Campus Plan

On Monday, Michigan Tech enters Step Two of their Three Step Return to Campus Plan.

As a result of that, Michigan Tech’s Flex Team is working hard, to ensure an excellent Michigan Tech Experience for all students, faculty and staff, when they return in the Fall.

With that, there will be changes, when everyone returns.

In Academics, look for students being placed 6 feet apart in classrooms.

Faculty will also be required to provide remote instruction should a student become sick, or are self isolating.

The Fall semester also starts two days early, which gives everyone a four day weekend, in October.

Student life will be different as Orientation will be a combination of remote presentations, with small group meetings.

No more than two people will share a residence hall room, and residence hall move-in will be by appointment over a two day period.

Grab and go food will be offered in residential dining, where seating will be limited due to social distancing requirements.

K-day will take place as scheduled, but in a virtual format, with smaller in-person meetings throughout the afternoon.

Health and Safety protocols will also be different.

All students, faculty and staff will be asked to self monitor for COVID-19 symptoms, and wear facial coverings.

Faculty can wear face shields, as can those who can’t tolerate a cloth mask.

Accommodations will be provided for employees identified by the CDC as being at higher risk of severe illness from COVID-19 as requested.

Accommodations for employees living with a high risk individual will also be made.

Everyone is asked to stay home when they are sick, or after exposure to COVID-19.
