Monthly Food Pantry Visit Changes Location

The Feeding America West Michigan Mobile Food Pantry resumes its monthly visits to Houghton County today, at a new location.

Distribution will take place at 2:00 at the Chapel of St. Matthew, on the Finlandia University campus in Hancock.

Other than the site, the distribution will follow the usual procedure. A variety of foods, including fresh produce and dairy items, will be handed out on a first-come, first-served basis to approximately 300 families, in a drive-through format. Attendees will not need to show identification or proof of income, but will be required to provide basic contact information and affirm that they legitimately need the food.

The distribution is being underwritten by the Portage Health Foundation’s COVID-19 Community Recovery Fund.

Next Thursday’s distribution in Baraga County will also be at a new location – the Baraga School, at 4:00.
