More Safety Measures Due To COVID-19

More safety measures to be taken due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Starting Monday March 23rd, the Houghton County Courthouse will be closed to the general public, but will remain staffed.

Residents who have court business are encouraged to call or email directly, or check the county’s website Houghtoncounty.net, to see if you can take care of your situation online.

Appointments are needed to enter the building.

The deadline for delinquent property taxes has been extended to May 29th or 30 days after the statewide “Declaration of Emergency” is lifted, whichever comes first.

The Houghton County Transfer Station will remain open to the public and the Veterans Affairs Office, located at the Houghton County Memorial Airport, will remain open, but an appointment is needed.

Walk in Wednesdays are suspended until further notice.
