Mt. Bohemia Named One of America’s Best – Again

A Keweenaw Peninsula ski resort has again been recognized as one of the best in the country.

For the third straight year, Mount Bohemia is listed in the USA Today “10 Best Readers’ Choice Awards” as one of the nation’s top downhill ski destinations.

At number-four on the list, it is the only award-winner in the Midwest, and one of only two east of the Mississippi River.

Known for its bountiful fresh powder, Mount Bohemia has become a destination for extreme skiers. It boasts the tallest vertical drop in Michigan, at 900 feet, and the longest ski run, at two miles.

Keweenaw County Convention and Visitors Bureau Director Brad Barnett said Mount Bohemia’s continued development has made it a major Copper Country tourist draw…

“Mt. Bohemia’s experience is unique, unlike anything this side of the Rockies, compared to any other destination, and especially in the Midwest. So, to have Mt. Bohemia again in a national publication, up there in the rankings, that’s just a huge benefit to our area, and our local economy.”

Barnett discussed the upcoming winter tourism season on Sunday’s Copper Country Today program. You can hear the entire interview at KeweenawReport.com.
