New Keweenaw Mountain Lodge Owner Named Interim General Manager

The new owner of the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge will also serve as the interim general manager for its first year under private ownership.

The Lodge announced that Keweenaw Resort, LLC owner John Mueller will be taking over the general manager duties of the facility on their Facebook page.

Mueller’s company purchased the Lodge in Copper Harbor last September and he will be taking over the management duties from Harvey Desnick, who ran the resort the last two years.

Desnick retired in December and is credited with helping to bring the costs of running the resort under control while still owned by Keweenaw County.

Mueller plans to spend the off-season working on improvements at the Lodge and getting it ready to open in May.

A search for a new general manager will be conducted over the season.
