Officials Warn of Holiday Scams

The Christmas season typically brings an increase in telephone and internet scams.

State Police Trooper Alan Park at the Negaunee Post says the latest online fraud involves someone contacting you who appears to be from a reputable source – such as Microsoft or Google.

That person explains that a deposit is pending for one of your bank accounts, and they need your access information to complete the deposit…

Park says the best defense is never to give out that information to anyone who contacts you – no matter how legitimate they may seem. If you have concerns…

If you’ve been scammed, let law enforcement know – but officials admit there’s very little chance you’ll ever see your money again.
