Ottawa National Forest Cancels Fishing Derbies

The Ottawa National Forest has announced that it will not be hosting its annual fishing derbies in conjunction with the state’s Free Fishing Weekend, scheduled for June 13th and 14th.

Acting Forest Supervisor Jon Stansfield cited not being able to adequately follow social distancing guidelines for cancelling the derbies this year.

The public can still take advantage of the Free Fishing Weekend, while social distancing.

The Ottawa National Forest remains open for use during the day.

The CDC has published a guide called “Visiting Parks and Recreational Facilities: Protect Yourself and Others from COVID-19.”
