Painesdale Woman Hurt in Crash

A Painesdale woman was injured in a three-car crash in Portage Township Friday evening.

Houghton County Sheriff’s deputies say the 66-year-old woman was driving southbound on M-26 around 7:30. A 64-year-old man from Atlantic Mine pulled out from West Sharon Avenue at the Green Acres Road stoplight, and struck her vehicle in the rear. The woman’s vehicle spun into the path of a northbound pickup truck, driven by a 31-year-old Houghton woman.

Hurontown Fire and Rescue used the Jaws of Life to remove the Painesdale woman from her vehicle. She was taken by ambulance to UP Health System-Portage. Sheriff’s deputies describe her injuries as “non-life threatening.” The other two drivers sought their own medical treatment.

Deputies say the headlights of the Painesdale woman’s vehicle were not on at the time of the crash.
