Portage Library Explains Closure Due to Inclement Weather Policy

In order to better serve our community, the Portage Lake District Library will no longer close by default when area schools close for inclement weather.

Instead, the decision to close the library will be an internal judgment made by the library director. The library recognizes the need for a safe, warm space for our patrons on harsh winter days and hopes this change in policy will allow the library to stay open more often this winter.

If the library does close due to weather, people will be notified through media, on the library’s website and Facebook page, and with a sign on the library’s front door.

For more information, please call the library at 482-4570.
