Portage Library Hosts Travelogue about Hawaiian Islands

The Portage Lake District Library will host a travelogue about the Hawaiian islands on Tuesday, March 27, from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Join Ayla Miller, 6th grade student at the Chassell Township Schools, as she presents a slideshow about her family’s adventures on the big island of Hawaii, Oahu, and Kauai this past January. Miller will show slides of wildlife including sea turtles, whales, endangered Monk seals, and wild horses. Her photos will illustrate the thrill of hiking to flowing lava, swimming under a waterfall, and seeing numerous exotic and unusual fruits and plants for the first time. She will also describe what her family did on January 13 when the emergency alert was sent telling everyone to seek immediate shelter because of an inbound missile threat.

Everyone is invited to hear about her memorable experiences and learn more about these beautiful, tropical islands.

Library programs are free and open to everyone. For more information, please call the library at 482-4570.
