Registration Open For Breakers To Bridge Paddle Festival

The Breakers to Bridge Paddle Festival, paddling events centering around the Keweenaw, is​ planned for Saturday September 9, 2017.

Friday begins with check-in at the Outdoor Adventure Program at Michgan Tech and then a casual social at the KBC at 6pm.

On Saturday, a 10 Mile non-­competitive timed paddle from Breakers(North Canal Boat Launch) to the Portage Lake Lift Bridge will take place followed by a celebration with kids games at Houghton East Waterfront Park, with food available from The Fitz! Food tokens are available for purchase in advance online for those not participating in the paddle.

On Sunday, folks are encourage to get out and explore on their own, be it paddling, biking, or hiking some of the great trails here in the Keweenaw.  The event is being planned by the Keweenaw Land Trust in partnership with Michigan Tech’s Outdoor Adventure Program.

Registration is now open for all events at www.breakersbridge.com  Boat rental is available, but must be​ reserved at time of registration.

Friday, September 8th 2017 (locations noted)

Noon-6:00PM: Check in & Bib Pickup at the OAP

6:00PM: Course talk on the 10 mile point to point and 3 mile loop

6:30PM: Casual Social at the KBC

Saturday, September 9th 2017 (Locations as Noted)

8:00AM-9:30AM: Check in and Shuttles to the Start(Super 8)

10:00AM-2:00PM: Breakers To Bridge 10 Mile Paddle (North Canal Boat Launch)

1:00AM-5:00PM: Short(~3 mile) downtown loop paddle, post race celebration at the finish area (Houghton East Waterfront Park) boats available on a rotating basis, no reservations

5:00PM: Ceremony and Recognition

Sunday, September 10th 2017 (Throughout Keweenaw)

Self Guided Adventures- Participants will receive information in their race packets about local waterfalls, hiking trails, conservation land, and other local treasures to explore.

Breakers To Bridge​ is a event to raise awareness for the Keweenaw Water Trail and the Keweenaw Land Trust, a community partner dedicated to protecting land, water and quality of life through conservation, stewardship and education.
